I Accepted a Dance From the Devil

It is seldom that we are attracted to ugly, dirty, foul smelling things. We don't just talk to strangers and tell them our deepest darkest secrets. Its usually strangers whose opinion you care about the least. We don't open doors for strangers that look like they may hurt us or ask them to spontaneously hold your purse...

But a person that you know, that you have an actual relationship with can make it feel as if your soul is ripped away when they hurt you...

As a woman I've learned that the worst feeling to be felt is that of being used. As a lover, as a friend, its easy to be screwed over when your a good person sometimes. People sometimes take advantage of kindness and take it as a weakness and use it to their advantage. The thing is those people that do it may not even realize the role their playing. Some people are placed in our lives as a lesson and initially may mean well but eventually start showing their true colors. Its easy to dismiss a bad attitude as a bad day but sometimes when a person shows you who they are the first time, believe them.

When you see the truth in a person and you continue to pursue them, you may as well have a dance with the devil. I've had experiences, particularly with men, the person I had met and the person I end up with weeks later, end up being two totally different people. The signs of who a person are show, even in the vaguest of ways at the most unexpected moments. From the way a person greets you to the way they end the night could possibly give you a good sense of a persons temperament. Even just observing a person with someone else without them knowing can give you a sense of character.

I know many people that fit that description. They seem so kind but in one quick situation, when something goes wrong, their true colors show. If you've seen every side of a person except for anger, you don't know them. its easy to be cool and easy going when everything is great, but the second things go wrong, that's when you really see who you've truly been dealing with .

Its sad because us as women especially accept this, thinking we can be Captain Save Everybody. We brush it under the rug as a bad day, a bad time and eventually becomes a bad life...

Its even worst to become a victim to this, to fall in line and follow suit. It could open doors you never even intended to encounter, just because you chose to over look that one characteristic. Ive lived and am still learning that I have to trust my own discernment, especially when it comes to people. Its a little scary to think some people really are one person by day and another by night; or like chameleons, change with their surroundings. RED FLAG that could be swept under the rug and ignored or save yourself the experience.

My dances with the devil, I've always found myself alone in the end, he disappears and I'm left with myself on the dance floor blindfolded. Sometimes in the moment the dance feels so right, it's not like I'd dance with a beast; he's welcoming, smells good, looks even better. Until he misses a step and steps on your toes, even though it hurts, do you still chose to keep dancing with him? I've learned its best to just stop and think of the possibilities. If I keep dancing wont I just hurt myself more? I realize the choices we choose are the ones we have to live with. Have you ever danced with the devil?
